People say the party scene at bennington is crazy wild; all drugs and alcohol. truth? — Asked by Anonymous

This seems to be a common question; maybe Rules of Attraction is regaining it’s original popularity.*  Here’s the thing, like other college campuses, some students here do partake in those activities. I, myself, enjoy a cold brewskie every now and then (I feel obligated to mention I am 22). However, I would not say it is the primary activity of students on campus. Most students partake in the various activites happening on campus every night (check out this term’s calendar ) which are drug and alcohol free.  When alcohol is encountered at parties or elsewhere, it is not something that anyone will EVER be pressured to do.  Students here are completly supportive of those who choose to stay sober, even in a party setting.  In short, if you want to partake in it, there are ways to go about doing so but it is not the the focus of Bennignton’s social scene.

In response to your comment about Bennington being crazy and wild; I would say that Bennington students show their wild side sometimes (some more then others). The party scene here varies from big dance parties in houses’ common rooms which can get a little wild to people sitting in a circle talking about what they read while eating cheese and maybe sipping some cheap wine or hot tea.  Call me crazy if you want, but the latter is usually my typical Friday night.

* For those of you who don’t know, Rules of Attraction was written by Bennington alum Bret Easton Ellis.
