In my own experience, one of the best parts of being a transfer was how accepted I was into the Bennington community not even five minutes after arriving. From orientation onwards, Bennington really builds in a lot of opportunities for you to make friends with people in all classes and friend groups, from your house chairs and peer mentor to your fellow first-years. Personally, I didn’t have many problems making friends. A good portion of my immediate friend group are the people I arrived at Bennington with, but as I’ve grown here, changed houses, developed new interests, taken different classes, and generally just LIVED, I’ve become a part of many different circles. In general, most of the people/friend groups here are always open/receptive/looking for new people to hang out with, so it’s pretty easy to find new homies.
