I don't really consider myself to be a college person but I'm absolutely in love with Bennington. Of course, I wont make a big deal if I don't get in but I was wondering what I could do to somehow get accepted. I know I'd have to volunteer more and get my grades up (I have a 3.4 GPA). How are the admissions involving SAT scores? Or what else could I possibly do to get into my dream school????? — Asked by Anonymous

Dear Secret Admirer,

Your SAT and GPA are only one part of your application and, to be frank, not the defining part.  Bennington’s admissions counselors are much more interested in learning about you then comparing your stats to another prospective student. The Bennington application looks more closely at the essays you submit, your interview and the supplemental material you share with us.     We want to get to know you!  My advice to you is this; send us everything about you that you think we should know.  Did a cool art project for school? Send us pictures!  Did you take a life changing vacation?  Tell us about it! Work on a community garden?  Send us fresh veggies!  The last one may be a little extreme but you get the picture.  All in all, the application is a platform for you to really show us who you are.  Use that to your advantage and don’t worry too much about your test scores.

 Best of Luck!
