I mean, some people smoke and some people don’t - I tried to find some data for percentage of smokers on campus and was unable to, although you might possibly be able to find some other references to it in the back-end of this blog.
In any case, there are no smoking houses on-campus, so if you happened to have a roommate who was a smoker, you wouldn’t really be confronted with it much more than possibly smelling it on their clothes, I’d imagine. The most important thing here is that Bennington’s Student Life Office takes health issues into account with utmost concern when placing incoming students into rooms and houses - if you explain your lung problems during the house placement process (which occurs after you send in your deposit) then you will absolutely be placed in a living situation that accommodates your health needs.
