Alum[NY]
At the tail end of a long and wonderful summer at Williamstown Theatre Festival, I booked it down to Brooklyn to couch-surf for a week before fall term started. In the process I hung out with a bunch of music/dance/theater/arts Bennington alums on several different occasions and got so excited (again, as I always do when I’m around them) about graduating them and joining them in the city.
Where are they now??
Chelsea, former visual art/literature student, one year out of Bennington, just got done working as an artistic consultant on movie shoot in Florida. She’s looking forward to work with movies more, which she never expected until now.
Steven, former visual art/performance/philosophy student, one year out as well, is about to start a grad school program on multimedia performance art.
Alice, former music and theater student, who graduated in December, did a show at Theater for the New City that I got to see by a new downtown ensemble called FRANK. The show, Love in the Seventh Kingdom of Wrath, was based on the life and times of the painter Caravaggio, and featured Alice’s tremendous skills in acting, singing, and playing cello.
Josh, former theater student, who graduated last year, has been writing plays and acting in the NY Fringe Festival.
Ethan, who just graduated this spring, just got to NY after a summer back home in Alaska. Now he’s living with Bennington alum and musical whiz Trevor Wilson, about to set out on a tour with their awesome vocal ensemble, of which Alice is a member!
These guys never cease to inspire me. Good to know the fun doesn’t stop when I leave this place in one year.
