NUIT BLANCHE in NYC was amazing. “Nuit Blanche” is a free nighttime art festival that occurs in different cities in the world simultaneously. Artists use light and projections to make site-specific works, which included a projected moving eyeball on the bottom of a water tower, light patterns shone on facing buildings through which we had to walk to reach the water, and more.
My favorite two works (the ones above) were a light structure with fluorescent light tubes- painful to look at for too long- and a white, solid bike model with projected videos on it. These projections were of fabric building up or coming off the parts of the bike and being replaced with new patterns. I could have watched the bike change for hours, but the festival ended at 1am.
