This past week…
Monday anthropologist Kim Fortune presented on Environmental Disaster for the Social Science Colloquium, Tuesday artist Barbara Hammer was featured at the Visual Arts Lecture series, and Wednesday poet Mark Doty read some of his work.
I’m no music expert but in a couple of weeks Japanther, The Babies, U.S. Girls, and Guerilla Toss are coming to campus for Sunfest, our annual all day music festival! Are they major? Maybe you can tell me!

Fire sirens start the madness of the tradition called Midnight Breakfast. With donuts passed down the long awaited line up to commons, the faculty band playing in the big room, dancing throughout the chairs and on the tables, and your teachers / staff / Liz Coleman (current president of Bennington) serving you breakfast at midnight on a randomly chosen night during finals - I don’t know of any other way for a school to give you a true “pat on the back” during the hectic sleepless nights of finals week(s).
Well, I am back to my work and hopefully going to bed soon, but I took my camera into the dinning hall tonight for a reason. I just could not wait to share this with you all tonight! While you may be stressed with deadlines or awaiting decisions, we are also knees deep in our final projects and papers. We understand your stress and crazy busy days.
Breathe and get some rest,
-Alana

When I’ve receive Facebook invites to over 30 events all happening on campus in the next three weeks, I know that it is officially the beginning of the end of term. Click on the squares above to learn more. I’ll update with new events next week.

[Part 11 of the Posters at Bennington Series]
One of the most common questions I’m asked on tours is “What is there to do at Bennington?” I know that before I came here I couldn’t for the life of me imagine what one would do all day at a small liberal arts school in Vermont. But when I visited campus I realized that everywhere I looked, the walls were plastered with posters advertising clubs, performances, discussions, lectures, films, and more.
So I thought, for those of you who can’t visit campus just yet, that I’d start a weekly series where I showcase some of the posters around campus over the past year or two. All photo credits go to the folks behind the Bennington College Flickr!
