Spring Arrives in Bennington #2
In the early morning of April 24th, 2013 spring arrived in Bennington, VT. After seven months, students stumbled, bewildered, out of hibernation and into the light. Here is what we did with ourselves. Enjoy.

I used the weather as an excuse to go for a walk — the prospective students need to know!! — and took some pictures. Its 62 degrees out right now, but it will be back in the mid twenties by the end of the week. I might like Bennington better with gray skies and rain.

Bike? Great. Car? Sure. But if you want to revel in the splendors of autumn, you might give walking a chance. I went around to some of my favorite outdoor places around campus today, for those of you who can’t be here.

At long last…pictures of our photography facilities!!

It’s been real hot here the past few weeks, but over the weekend we had the best rain and thunder and it finally cooled down. Hoping for more of that today.

We had a few requests for a photoset of theater spaces, so here’s one. Enjoy! And keep the photo requests coming!

VOTE NOW — We’d love to hear what space on campus you’d like to see more pictures of! Check back here for pictures after we get some results.

At the end of every year, Bennington’s Crossett Library hosts a celebration of senior theses. Much of the Bennington community attends, including President Liz Coleman. Check out the full set of pictures capturing this year’s celebration, courtesy of the Library.

We don’t want to post too many google imaged pictures of professors, cause that’s a little creepy, and there aren’t too many around to model for us right now, but we’ll try to work more professor posts in.
Thanks for the idea!

We had a request for photo/video of walking into VAPA entrances. Since there’s a lot of entrances and you can’t (as far as I know) upload a video-set, I figured I’d do a photoset of what seem to be the most commonly used entrances into VAPA and where they lead into.
If anyone would like to see photos of specific interior areas of VAPA, let us know and we can jog over and take some more pictures!

P.S. yes my reflection is visible in most of those photos no i did not mean to do that i’m sorry photo gods plz hav mercy ;( ;(
Kevin was a man on a mission with the camera this morning, but we’ll all try to keep up with him.
Keep reminding us of the specific things you want to see. We all go here, so we forget sometimes what it’s important to show.

My friend Jillian Japka ‘12 studies architecture and philosophy (among other things) here at Bennington. The other day I joined her in the architecture studio to learn a little more about what she’s working on.
I was working on a site plans and sections for my senior project, which is a multi-program design in Philadelphia. The site is a quarter mile strip in a neighborhood that is bordered by two highways, a bridge, and the Delaware River. These conditions have resulted in a lack of vitality for this neighborhood. My design aims to reconnect the neighborhood to the surrounding areas of Philadelphia and protect the street from the influence of the highways and bridge. -Jillian
Those last three pictures are of the cartoon she drew about her project - just a little studio inspiration with anthropomorphized buildings!
