Ok. I indulge in reality television, like Keeping Up With the Kardashians. I'm not a musician and I'm artistically challenged. However, I heard about your school from a friend and have watched all your vids on youtube, completely coveted the school's website, and have read the school's Tumblr. I'm SUPER interested, but I don't feel like this school attracts my "type" of person (you know what I mean) Could I still fit in here? — Asked by Anonymous

I just had the following conversation with a friend on Facebook about Gossip Girl:

I’m also artistically challenged and not a musician. But I love to live with musicians, study the work of the more artistically inclined, go to Britney Spears-themed birthday parties where my friend Eissa plays Slave 4 U specifically 4 me as I walk into the room, and watch episodes of Tool Academy with my friends in my house common room. One of my friends would rather see Erykah Badu or Bjork in concert, while another has a Tumblr filled almost exclusively with Disney .gifs and Harry Potter memes. But some of us (me, specifically) also like to do things like go to panel discussions about the debate over looted antiquities at the Getty and then discuss how American art museums somehow see themselves as neutral ground in the international community. We have all types at Bennington with all kinds of interests. If you feel like you could be happy here and do work that is meaningful to you, don’t let the Kardashians prevent you from applying!
